Triumph International Fashion Awards

October 25, 2005 by Danae

Triumph Fashion Awards Winner

Every year, lingerie giant Triumph International sponsors a Fashion competition, asking designers to bring lingerie out of the drawer and turn it into a “visible and integral part of clothes.” The theme of this year’s award was “Dress up for Mozart,” and the prize was worth up to 100,000 Euro.

Of the three finalists, Rafael Gomes came out on top, most likely because he didn’t simply design around lingerie, he designed with it. The handbags are made of bra cups, the necklaces of bra clasps, and instead of lace and ruffles along the skirt, he used stockings and stocking ribbons. The result is strange, but very clever and compelling.

The 2004 winner is also detailed on the site, with actual photos of the winning piece (rather than just sketches), along with finalists. The next contest will open next year, so get your sketchbooks out!
