I read somewhere (Wall St. Journal, maybe?) that Vente Privee was going to try to break into the American market, but I think they've waited too late now. Gilt and Rue La La (along with all their derivatives) have pretty much saturated the U.S. What do you think?
I really think there is room for one more (if it's really good) and per v-p they say they started it all. Gilt's new Gilt Noir has it's current non-10K spending customers peeved and their list prices have been found to be inflated. To get a break at Ideeli you need to pay to be a member (otherwise you have to wait an hour after the sale starts). Rue Lala's customer service is not good, Editors Closet is almost non-existent, Top Secret/Button & Billion Dollar Babes seem past their prime and the slew of cosmetic sample sale sites are just meh. Hautelook, for me seems to be the only site working at keeping things fresh and still their shipping is so slow. As I understand it v-p US is suppose to be in conjunction with Amazon and I feel pretty good about that, Amazon imo hasn't lost their edge at all. V-p just had a Lejaby sale that was oth, I was almost glad they didn't ship to the US or I would have put a serious dent in my wallet. I'd also like to see Brand Alley & Secret Sales Club ship to the US if the shipping fees were reasonable.
