This Christmas, Replace Cotton Nightwear with Gorgeous Modal Loungewear
November 24, 2008 by Alison

Although still relatively unknown, modal is increasingly gaining popularity; originally developed in Austria by the Lenzing company, modal is made of the reconstituted cellulose from the beech tree and is widely used as an alternative to cotton. Soft as silk and as breathable as cotton, modal is the ideal fabric for loungewear; it drapes beautifully around the body, and is so incredibly soft it leaves you with that feel of utter luxury you crave when lounging about. Not only does it look and feel luxurious, you can wash it again and again without fear of shrinkage or the dreaded ‘pilling’ we so often experience with delicate fabrics.
At this time of year, we’re always looking for gift ideas – whether it’s to give to others or buying a well-deserved treat for ourselves; if you’re thinking it’s about time to replace those worn out nighties and PJs, why not use the opportunity to try out elegant modal which will make you feel gorgeous, and you’ll be safe in the knowledge that the postman won’t laugh at you – because you’ll no longer be wearing your kitten-covered, brushed cotton PJs when you answer the door!
One of our favourite places to find modal is Pink Camellia, where you’ll find sophisticated PJ label, Derek Rose, and loungewear by designer Louis Feraud; our favourites are the wide leg lounging pyjamas £105 and robe £79.50 (pictured above center and right) for the perfect Saturday morning feel, and the elegant Empire line nightdress £79.50 (pictured left) for a soft, luxurious night’s sleep.
