They May Be Big But They’re Not Scary – It’s This Season’s Animal Prints!

October 16, 2009 by

Animal prints are bigger than ever this year! If you’ve never dared to try them, take a look at what we’ve found…

Roartastic Retro!

We forget that animal prints aren’t just a thing of the noughties; Norman Norell, the American fashion designer born at the beginning of the 20th Century, had a thing going with animal print; and at a time when shops or designers weren’t even thought of, the real thing must have kept a few brave people warm a long, long time ago.

Back to the present day: Lingerie designers ‘What Katie Did‘ are a dab hand at making fabulous-looking retro pieces and the Josephine Corselette, from their current collection, is all you need for a wild night out. Perfect for holding in and smoothing down, this fabulous piece of shapewear is a great investment for wearing under slim-fitting dresses; what’s more, it has a low back design giving it all round versatility . And yes, we want one!

The Josephine Corselette is available at La Magia priced at £65 – La Magia offer free worldwide delivery.

Ethical and Glamorous

Those with an environmental conscience will be pleased to know they won’t have to miss out when it comes to animal prints: Enamore have created the aptly-named Betty Bedrock range, which includes this cuter than cute camisole and shorty set. Made with 95% Bamboo, the collection is made in the UK and is adorably sexy with its pink bows – with its high ethical standards Enamore have come up trumps with another guilt-free way of buying lingerie!

The Betty Bedrock collection is available at ethical stores
Equa (camisole £42 and shorties £19 for those in the UK, and The Öko Box for those in the US (camisole $120 shorty $76 )

Pretty Wild!

For those who balk at the very thought of animal print, take a look at Sexy Panties and Naughty Knickers’ Pussy Cat range – pretty, pink (and green) silk print may well sway you to think otherwise. Newly re-branded, S***K are still spot on when it comes to offering beautifully designed, pretty and simple lingerie. We love their animal prints for a fun and glamorous way to dress up under office clothes – and with animal print as tame as this, there’s really no reason to be scared!

The Pretty Cat range is available at Glamorous Amorous £42.99 for those in the UK and for those in the US, go to
Sexy Panties and Naughty Knickers US, prices start at $58 for the thong or Knickers.

There’s also the Pantheria range at Agent Provocateur, but I thought Aliyah, which was in the classics collection only last year, did leopard far better.

Today, I am seeing a lot of Plus Size Women as models in different websites. Good sign.

The Animal Designs are really cute. Models are also good.
