Alison’s Search For The Perfect Larger Cup Sports Bra!
May 28, 2010 by Alison
It’s not just the prospect of wearing a bikini this summer that makes me realise I need an exercise regime, it’s that my previously very fit body is starting to seize up! Since regular gym visits are a rather too distant memory, I’m in desperate need for a new sports bra…
Freya Active

Most of us have heard of Freya: for those of you haven’t, it’s a pretty lingerie label specialising in larger cups and great fitting bras. With Freya Active now added to a large range of great fitting in-house labels, it’s a tempting prospect to try Freya’s sports bra. The black bra with lime piping is my favourite (with white and nude also available); at a pretty reasonable price of £26 and cup sizes up to an H cup, this could be a great choice for anyone who fancies a well-fitting bra with a great name in lingerie behind it!
Freya Active available at Figleaves UK, £26, and Figleaves US $44.55.
Shock Absorber

With a background in dance, I’m a bit of sucker for coloured active wear and I love the look of this pink bra! No longer having the svelte-with-small-boobs dancing body I’m happy to see that Shock Absorber cater well for D+ sizes. The brand is well-known for its awareness for good support, and offer a range of bras for low to high impact exercise. Should you for any reason still need to be convinced of how important wearing a bra is during exercise, Shock Absorber’s bounce-ometer is a great way to see what happens if you’re not wearing the right support!
Shock Absorber D+ Max Sports Bra is currently on sale at Sheactive, £13.50, who have a great range of sports bras.
Shock Absorber Level 4 Sports Bra (up to a HH cup) available at Figleaves US, $47.50, and Figleaves UK, £25.50.
Royce Sports Range

Royce are a wirefree zone; for those who think good support only comes from underwire bras, think again! Among other styles, Royce offer super support sports bras up to a J cup and promise that you’ll stay in place no matter what your activity. With prices around the same as the bras above, it’s really a matter of preference whether you go wirefree or not – personally I don’t care as long as I get the support!
Royce Impact Free Sportsbra available at Figleaves UK, £29.50, and Figleaves US, $50.
As far as my choice goes this time, I’ve gone for the pink Shock Absorber Max Impact - because of its promise of high impact support, the colour and the price. It’s on order right now and I’m looking forward to its arrival!
A good range of larger cup sports bras is also available at Bravissimo

It would be nicer if you included the word "plus size" or "D+" in the title or something. I do, of course, understand it's much more important for well-endowed women to find the perfect support in a sports bra, but it does come as a bit of a disappointment to read about such a good sports bra.. But only coming in D+ sizes.
I have to say I swear by the Berlie shock absorber… no unslightly and uncomfortable bouncing. Great to see it in such a pretty colour!
You're right, Evija, and I've now changed the title to include 'Larger Cup' – hopefully this will be more helpful to those who are looking for a sports bra suitable to their size. I also take on board your comments about these bras only being available in D+ sizes and will check out some smaller cup sports bras. Thank you again for your comments, the feedback from our readers is very important to us.
Good to hear you've had a good experience with the Shock Absorber, Miss Kitty Plum, I can't wait to try it!

Yes! The Freya Active sports bra is one of the few sports bras that I find gives enough support to wear during high impact sports like jogging. I can highly recommend.
