Last week we showcased some gorgeous jewel-tone bras for Autumn/Winter, and promised that we would devote an Autumn/Winter post to larger-cup ladies next. Here are some wee treats to brighten up your cold winter nights!

Lejaby Elixir’s “Melusine”

Our favourite large-cup bra for this season has to be the incredible “Melusine” from Lejaby Elixir — the delicate, tattoo-like pattern gives an art deco glamour and will definitely stand out from the everyday larger-cup bra! We love the tiny rose accents, the scalloped edges, and the matching briefs are just as heavenly.

The only drawback is the size range – Melusine only goes up to a 38G, which just isn’t enough – every woman deserves a bra this lovely! For those of you lucky enough to be in the range, you can get Melusine in Cocoa (pictured above) or a purple “Poison,” the bra is £58 and the matching briefs are £26. There are also limited sizes available in Poison at Figleaves at a slightly reduced price.

Panache’s Tango Plunge

Our next pick is available from a DD – H cup, and comes in six colours, ranging from functional nude, black and white to the lovely teal and purple pictured above. It’s hard to find a plunge bra in larger-cup sizes, so we love that this bra not only offers a variety of sizes and colours, but lets you wear it out on the town underneath your favourite v-neck! Rigby & Peller’s “Whisper” and “Icicle”

We know we blog a lot about Rigby & Peller, but it’s difficult to not get excited when you see such gorgeous bras available up to an H-cup! This season Rigby & Peller have concocted some stunning sets, including the dark and mysterious “Whisper” (pictured above left), and the oh-so wintry “Icicle,” (pictured above right). We love that Rigby & Peller take the time to create intricate, beautiful sets that accommodate so many sizes — their ranges always include a large-cup plunge, full-cup and padded plunge bra, which gives an option for every size from an A to an H. The bras are £pound;73 ($121) so it really is a Christmas treat, but good quality isn’t cheap, and Danae swears by these bras!

It’s easy to colour something ivory and declare it “bridal,” but I’ve learned in the past few weeks that picking bridal lingerie isn’t just a case of choosing something pretty in the right colours. All brides will have different needs based on their dress styles, bra size and countless other variables, but from what I’ve learned, there are a few things a bride will almost always need to count on:

A good bra – Rigby & Peller’s “Dragonfly”

For brides walking down the aisle in a dress with straps, a good quality, supportive bra is essential. It doesn’t matter how gorgeous the bra might be (and luckily, this one is!), the main concern is that it gives the absolute best shape under the dress. I love Rigby & Peller as a bridal pick because they tick all the boxes: excellent quality fabric to give the best support, excellent sizing, very comfortable bras, and beautiful designs to boot. This ice-blue “Dragonfly” set is currently at the top of my list for wedding-day lingerie, and it’s going to take something pretty special to boot it off! A “Dragonfly” bra is £71 and a knicker is around £43, depending on the style you choose.

A good corset – What Katie Did’s “Sophia” Corst

Brides in strapless gowns need a good quality corset to keep them comfortable and everything held in place – the worst thing to imagine is walking down the aisle and hitching up your dress! Vollers is an obvious choice and has some beautiful options, but I prefer this raw silk creation from What Katie Did. The Sophia’s simple design won’t cause any trouble under a silk dress, but it still has a sexy, playful style. The corset is £140 and is best suited for smaller to medium cup sizes, going up to an E-cup.

A great wedding night set – Hannah Dulcie’s “Florence”

The wedding day lingerie is all about support and practicality, but on the wedding night you can forget all of that and just go for pure decadence. That’s why I love this simple silk set from Hannah Dulcie – the cut of the bra is oh-so-provocative and will delight any groom, but the set itself is elegant and simple, using vintage laces and silk-covered buttons to add those special details. For those brides who don’t prefer the virginal white, Hannah also offers a similar set in vixen black. The white set is £150 and the black set is £85.

I’m still months away from the big day (the wedding is August!) and we haven’t even been to Paris to see the new collections, so I’m sure there will be many more bridal picks to come!

And lastly!  Please know that every woman deserves a well fitting bra whether you are a 28A or a (in my case a 34H…yikes!).  Don’t let sales people up your band size to fit your cup.  The support comes from the band size!  And yes, out side of 36C, nothing seems available but that is just NOT true, there are at least 3 companies using a 26 band for our petite sisters.  For the ladies that are more than a handful, we’ve got you covered, yes, even if you don’t have a Nordstrom Rack or Neiman Marcus Last Call in your area.  These high-end outlets provide personal shopping and great service.  Need help just drop me a line at katie@knickersblog.com.

This weekend I visited Denver’s SoL lingerie during their Semi-Annual Sale -everything is 15% off online and amazing savings on previous season lingerie if you can make it into their shop or if you know what you want, give them a call. The lingerie bins (sorted by size) were loaded with designers like Marie Jo, Prima Donna, Audabe, Chantelle, Lise Charmel, Andres Sarda, Chantal Thomass and so much more. I found this Prima Donna Buenos Aires set (rrp. $250) now only $97 and all sale panties (some originally $150) were $12 including the Marie Jo Tadao. They even had the Josie Natori Couture hand embroidered, rich silk, short kimonos on sale for $637 (still pricey, but marked down from $1500), in either steel gray or black. If you are interested in these definitely call, there were only two available. The service is impeccable, my bra fitting was comfortable, they even have a seamstress who’ll adjust your band size free of charge ($10 for markdown/sale bras) so you get the perfect cup and band fit. As of last weekend they had a great selection in all sizes, but as with all great sale, stock goes fast and this sale ends Saturday, March22.
