This is the last of my end of summer series of rants and what rant series would be complete without discussing ebay?  There’s a  giveaway too!

Wednesday’s Buzz: Overpaying on ebay. This physically hurts me to see someone overpay on ebay when the same item is available for purchase (generally with a reason return policy & shipping) on another site.  I don’t understand why this happens since the buyer has a computer and knows how to search (both essential to using ebay) and has the time since auctions can take up to 10 days to end.  Ok I do understand.  ebay spends a lot of money advertising and there are a lot of inexperienced and/or lazy shoppers out there  (ebay is easy).  But take heed ebay’s policy is “Let the buyer beware” and it’s a haven for scam artist.  I’m not talking about the ones trying to steal your money with no intention of delivering goods.  I’m talking about the scam stating something is “limited” or “sold out” when it’s not or overstating the retail value.  I understand a 10% overstatement, ebay fees can be a bear, but anything over that gives the false idea of a bigger discount than your are actually getting.  And remember a lot of these sellers are trying to get rid of  stock they cannot move in-store.

The latest example is a Pluto Belgium modal/cashmere pajamas being listed at 45% off ‘Buy it Now’ or best offer.  The truth is that’s the BIN price is actually current retail value for past season pieces.  For these to be any kind of a deal you should decrease that price by 40% and that’s the maximum you should pay (based on Nancy Meyer 40% off clearance sales).  Or just wait for someone who just wants to sell items to make a bit of extra money (I just bought a Pluto modal/cashmere gown w/tags for a price so low I’m ashamed to tell you…oh alright $13).

On December 3rd I let you know about the amazing sale at Figleaves U.S. Right now the site is down but don’t worry they promise to be back with new arrivals and exclusive brands on Tuesday, December 23rd.  And just because I write up these sales it doesn’t mean I’m immune to them and at these prices how could I resist.  Well, I’ve received my packages, everything is beautiful and I saved over 90%.  Here are some highlights!

I was utterly thrilled to see Eco-boudoir -luxury with a conscience, at the Figleaves sale.  I adore their beautiful designs as well as their sustainable and eco-friendly practices and to find it at 90% off was simply an unbelievable, too good to be true moment.  I picked up these 3 pieces for $57 (rrp. $570).

Next are my Savile Row, London Derek Rose Pajamas, featured by both the Robb Report & Oprah’s O List.  These gorgeous pj’s (bottoms only picture) are suppose to be a gift, if I can bear to part with them -originally $290, were $29.  And then there’s the Figleaves Kishi angora cardigan $15 (reg. $90), it’s so soft and cozy that I wish I’d bought two, and though it’s not officially 90% off, the Freya Rio thong & Figleaves tank top made up for it at $1 a piece (up to 98% off). I also picked up Princesse Tam-Tam‘s Angora and Cashmere mix soft pants -$8, goes great with the Kishi Cardi, Wolford Vichy hold-ups $7, and  Fantasie Zanzibar swimsuit -$10.

Then Bare Necessities had a couple of promos going on during their clearance sale which included DKNY sleep masks, BN cozy slipper socks and best of all Simone Perele Sunlight bikini (rrp $40) all for $1 each and free shipping on any order.

I was done, right?  Well not quite, whilst searching for more bargains to post I heard about the SeenOn sale and there, for $10, is a set of 3 Hanky Panky thongs.   I rarely cover HP because I never see them dip below $11 a panty, so 3 for $10 (82% off retail) was a must buy.

When all was said and done my “Holiday Haul” came to about $200 for $2,000 worth of luxury lingerie, lounge & swimwear, not a bad week’s work.  If you haul in amazing holiday lingerie at bargain prices, let us know what you scored.  I’ll be back on Monday, December 29th posting all of the ‘After the holidays sales’.
