Sad Farewell to Boudiche & Myla London USA

Today’s post has very sad news indeed.  Two really great sites are gone (hopefully one is temporary) Myla London’s U.S. site and Scottish boutique Boudiche.   Per Myla, they have moved the fulfillment operation from the US to the U.K. for the simple fact that the U.K. site offers a wider range of products and they’ve found that US customers have been ordering from Myla’s UK site for that reason.  At the moment you can only order in Pounds Sterling although they are working to allow you to choose to order in US Dollars in the near future.  In any case I will miss the annual blowout sale (70% off or more) which I’ve never seen on the U.K. site

Boudiche Exquisite Lingerie has closed their doors and online boutique pending an infusion of investment funds. Founding Director Clare Thommen said: “It is with deep regret that we have placed Boudiche into administration. Despite our best efforts and an extensive search for funding we were unable to secure the investment required to continue. We will continue to seek investment and hope to buy back the brand. In the meantime, we would like to thank everyone who has worked with us and helped us over the years.”  This was a booming boutique that kept stock fresh and fun, held events like Smalls for All and had great sales -up to 75% off fabulous designer lingerie from the likes of La Perla, Fleur of England and Damaris.  They really will be missed.

Boutiques & Designers On The Rise

I was reading the Lingerie Addict’s 7 Deadly Lingerie Sins (my main sin was gluttony or as I prefer to call it “collecting”).  It’s no secret that I love fine lingerie and where I cannot have it all, having a couple of pieces from designers I admire can’t be all bad.  One of my favorite boutique (both in-store and online) is Faire Frou Frou where I’ve pick up *tdf* lingerie from Vannina Vesperini, Skin & MadameV (from their sale pages, of course).  They’ve had a wee bit of trouble but weathered it well by maintaining e-commerce while the boutique was under repair.  Now the boutique has  re-opened and the site has been revamped and new designers are in the works including the stunning lingerie from Ari Dein.  Go check them out!

Panty Salad (I know weird name) doesn’t have the most glamorous website but it is chock full of designer knickers from all over the world and they are constantly the lowest price on the web (barring pop-up sales from BrandAlley, Hautelook, vente-privee…) and they regularly have sales marking down the prices by at least 20%.  They have great customer service, free worldwide shipping (with a small minimum purchase) and when they can they even include little gifts.  You know when you buy that great bra on sale but the matching knickers are no where to be found?  They generally can be found here at a discount if not on sale.

I first saw mulmul on the Frou Frou Fashionista Blog and I was in love, seriously, one of the few ranges I’m willing to pay retail.  Why? Simple, elegant, lightweight -perfect for these humid summer days, versatile, dreamy, reasonable prices (only $35 – $165 retail) and limited.  Almost everyone has a chance to own one of these special pieces, if you are fast, each design is limited to 20 pieces.

Last but not least is Knicker’s reviewed Mission Control available around the 24th., of June 2010.  Per Alison both efficacy and design are quite impressive which is rare in the shapewear world (mostly efficient but oh  so very dreary).   I can’t wait to try them, any shapewear this cute and comfortable (Alison wants a pair for every day of the week!) is a must try.

Now I’m not saying go broke buying lingerie but picking up one or two pieces when you can tends to brighten one’s day, add variety to your lingerie draw and support business not willing to dumb down your choices.  Sometimes we have to pay a bit extra for quality and service because it’s worth it.

The inner-as-outerwear lingerie trend is absolutely exploding this season, and the humble bodysuit is at the forefront of this trend. Once relegated to the bins of American Apparel and vintage 80′s collections, the bodysuit is most definitely back! Here are some of the trendsetters for this style:

Lascivious Bodysuits

Lascivious were doing bodysuits before they were big again, and designer Chloe has turned out some absolutely stunning pieces lately. Our favourite is the ultra-nude “Stardust” body available at Coco de Mer, which uses Swavoski crystals for the cheekiest hint of modesty. It reminds us of Pink’s famous Grammy’s outfit, and who wouldn’t want a little bit of Pink attitude?
Our favourite bodysuit from Lascivious has to be “Candy” from the Showgirl collection (pictured above right) — it’s been worn by Britney on stage and graced many editorial pages, but you can still own one yourself for £169. If you’ve got the legs for it, do it!

Nichole de Carle Bodysuits

Nichole de Carle’s latest collection, “Opal” is so chock-full of stunning bodysuits that it’s probably just easiest for us to link to to her lookbooks! We’ve seen a tremendous amount of progression from Nichole’s first collection and can’t get enough of her new minimalist approach to the signature de Carle style of ornate patterns. We can’t wait for the Opal and Onyx collections to hit stores online and we will keep you informed!

Bebaroque Bodysuits

Famous for their incredible tights, Scottish label Bebaroque has branched out in the past few seasons and has released some killer bodysuits in their signature patterns and styles. We love how Bebaroque’s creations always seem to look cutting-edge, while still staying accessible enough that you could imagine fitting their pieces in to your own wardrobe. Our favourite piece has to be the tattoo-inpired “Saylor” body (above, left) which gives the ultimate pretty bad-girl look.

We also love the more sedate “Ursula” body (above right), which is richly encrusted with beads, Swarovski crystals and pearls, but still manages to look elegant and simple with its mermaid-inspired scales.

Damaris Bodysuits

Luxury label Damaris has been pushing the envelope of lingerie design more and more with each season, and their bodysuits for Spring/Summer 2010 are no exception. The aptly-named “Enticing” (above, left) bodysuit features flesh-toned tulle and french leavers lace, topped off with a helping of Swarovski crystals to create a kind of black magic look. Their “Enchanting” (above, center) bodysuit is the innocent counterpart, featuring pale leavers lace and incredibly adorned Swarovski straps.

Our favourite isn’t quite a bodysuit, but we think it deserves a mention for its fashion-forward looks. The “Whispering” “necklace bra” (above, right) is part evening gown, part lingerie, and fully enchanting and unique. Bravo to Damaris for such a stunning set!
