Retro swimsuits make a splash at Olympus Fashion Week
September 19, 2006 by Danae

We’ve been following Coutorture’s amazing coverage of Olympus Fashion Week closely (be sure to check out all the designer interviews they’ve done on video, it’s fantastic!), and have spotted some lovely looking swimwear coming out of the new Spring/Summer collections for 2007. Our favourite is Gottex’s retro-inspired collection, especially this adorable black and white suit pictured above. It’s all very glamour-chic, not showing too much skin but still looking effortlessly sexy.
We also adore Jenni Kayne’s swimsuit collection, also inspired by bygone eras before high-cut bikini lines and plunging necklines. These swimsuits manage to look ladylike and fun all at once, and the colourful prints add a modern edge to the vintage shapes.
If you fancy the vintage look for those last-minute holidays, there are some great swimsuits out right now that carry off this sexy retro look: our favourite is this divine lagoon blue halterneck piece from JETS (£112 in the UK, $212 in the US), with this cheeky black and white polka dot set from Pistol Panties coming a close second (£149 in the UK, and sadly not available in the US). For something a bit more affordable, try this lovely bandeau set from Ballet, a more reasonable £38 (or $67 in the US). Finally, a new label to watch is the beautiful Bathe from designer State of Undress, sure to be a hit when it hits stores next Spring.
Pair any of these sets with big sunglasses, a headscarf, and jet off to the closest tropical island for the winter, dahhling!
