If you’re a lover of Italian lingerie, why not go for luxury label Oscalito in the colder months; they offer gorgeously made wool-silk mix lingerie with an elegantly sexy edge. Far from making you feel frumpy, these ‘thermals’ are beautifully designed with the intention of keeping the lingerie look, even in colder weather. Our favourite is the ribbed wool and silk camisole (above left, $145), which would work perfectly as a boudoir piece, or under your favourite office outfit.

We may think of Italy as a country where we go for guaranteed sunshine in the Summer, but they certainly seem to have a knack for coming up with gorgeously warm underwear. We love family-run Bella Di Notte, whose ‘winter’ underwear range includes the Rossella Trouser Brief Body (above) made of a very cosy 85% wool (and 15%silk) – it may be designed to offer trouser wearers a cosy lingerie option without the fear of VPL, but we love the thought of wearing this under a winter dress this season!
