It’s not all Knickers and Bras
May 30, 2008 by Alison
If we could buy a piece of lingerie every day, I dare say we would; between us, we could certainly fill a shop (now that’s an idea!), and yet we are always on the look out for more! After one of us has realised she now needs a display cabinet to accommodate her vast collection, we decided enough is enough – well, for a day at least! Today there’s not a knicker or bra to be seen:
Strumpets by Elizabeth Melinek
We do a lot of gazing and staring at lovely things, but we seriously can’t take our eyes of these Strumpets ‘Booties’; Elizabeth Melinek, creator of Strumpets, is a fourth generation tailor, and after seeing a 1920′s photo of her Grandfather (whose shop was around the corner from hers in Brick Lane) in a pair of Spats, she decided to design these extraordinarily adorable boots that even “fit into your handbag”. Put them over heels or just your feet (if you’re in boudoir mode), and, as the site so cutely points out: they make your feet, whatever their size, look like dainty Minnie Mouse Tootsies!
We haven’t found an online stockist yet, but they can be ordered from the Strumpets’ Website, and are available in Petite, Athletic and Voluptuous priced at £99. Also, check out the list of stockists around the world.
Cornelia James Faux Fur Shrug
Much as we adore lingerie, we’re suckers when it comes to fashion and accessories. Down at Knickers HQ the place is brimming over with bags, hats and dresses (all for a reason of course!); this gorgeous, faux fur Shrug at Cornelia James £68 is the latest arrival on the scene. If you think (faux) fur is out of place in the Summer, think again: for a cool summer’s evening (or a chilly wind in Scotland) this is the perfect way to glam up a beautiful dress, and keep the chilliness at bay. There are plenty of different Shrugs to choose from, including a chic animal print, and a cute honey shrug to keep you cosy.
Gloves by Cornelia James
Cornelia James (Danae’s newest discovery) have been making gloves for 60 years, and are even approved by the Queen. We rather think the Queen would approve of us liking these white satin gloves £25, perfect for holding a Pimms at that summer garden party. We’re not so sure about Mrs Windsor’s approval for the velvet leopard print gloves £25, but we are absolutely loving them!
