Insinuate: A Playfully Naughty Label, and Figleaves Clearance Sale

It’s not often that we’ll cover the “high street” side of the lingerie market, but we had to make an exception for the delightfully playful brand, Insinuate, that has just been introduced to us. Pitched as something between Ann Summers and Agent Provocateur, Insinuate is a kitsch mix of Coco-de-Mer-style accessories, big hair, itty bitty bras and over-the-top dress-up sets. The label has a wonderful enthusiasm to it, and it’s almost as if the creators had just discovered lingerie one morning, and in their glee created everything from golden eye masks to pillowed paddles to quarter-cup bras. Once they started designing, they just couldn’t stop until they’d played to every lingerie stereotype possible – fetish, “angel,” animal-print, classic, everything gets the irreverent Insinuate treatment.

The lingerie itself isn’t of the best quality, but it’s also not too expensive — a wonderful mix if you’re looking for something to wear for a one-off special event. Where Insinuate really shines, however, is in their accessories: we’re in love with their delightfully provocative leather eye mask, the hilarious honeymoon paddle, and this golden cuff-and-collar set (complete with padlock) is just wonderfully naughty.

Insinuate hasn’t taken itself too seriously, and as a result has created a refreshing line of fun, if slightly mad lingerie that’s perfect for more playful special occasions. They’ve distinguished themselves from the countless other labels in this market with their often surprisingly-good designs, particularly in accessories. It’s not often that we’ll cover a label that only offers bras in sizes like S, M, and L, but for this vivacious label we’re happy to make an exception.
