Fauve Lingerie: the good news and bad news

July 25, 2007 by Danae

A new larger-cup brand has launched, and with it comes some good news and bad news for DD+ women. The bad news is, the Rigby & Peller lingerie line has been discontinued — their 15-year agreement with Eveden has come to an end, so the line will no longer be manufactured. The store is still going strong, and one of the best places to find high-quality larger cup lingerie. Even so, we’re pretty gutted about this turn of affairs, as Rigby and Peller’s last line had one of our favourite larger-cup bras, “Giselle“. There is good news, however: Eveden has created Fauve, a new larger-cup brand designed to fill the void for women seeking high-quality, grown-up lingerie.

Fauve Lingerie

Fauve Lingerie

Fauve takes its name from Fauvism, an early 20th-century art movement made famous by artist Henri Matisse. The style was known for its vivid colours, and the lingerie line follows suit with rich palettes of bronze, fuscia and midnight blues. The art comparison stops there, however — while Fauvism was all very murky and impressionist, Fauve has carried on with a rather more opulent and austere style for its lingerie, using lace and embroidery detail with a gentle touch to create a luxurious, adult look.

Available in a C-H cup, Fauve’s first collection includes three ranges: Amandie, Anya, and Amelie. Our favourite is Amelie (pictured above), a pink and chocolate set that uses just enough embroidery to create a feminine style, without being too fussy. The mink version of this set is perhaps even nicer — a pale, neutral colour, it should be a practical set that’s still lovely to wear. Amandie is for those romantics out there who prefer a darker palette, and Anya offers a younger look in fuscia and black.

Buy Fauve

At the moment, we can only find one set available to buy online, at Figleaves. Amelie (the pictured set) is available in chocolate and milk for £72 at Figleaves UK, and is available in chocolate only for $187 at Figleaves US. If you’re hankering for Anya or Amandie, we recommend you check out the stockist page for Fauve and find a retailer closest to you (U.S. readers, it looks like Figleaves may be your only hope). If you’re unsure about the fit for this new brand, use Fantasie’s sizing as a reference — Fauve is a designer line of the same brand.

Mourning the loss of Rigby and Peller? — we’ve updated our bargains page with some of the remaining stockists, so you can grab one last bargain!
