Eco-friendly lingerie labels

May 8, 2007 by Danae

Why not celebrate the beautiful springtime weather with some eco-friendly lingerie? This “niche” is expanding nicely, with a wide range of eco-friendly and socially responsible products becoming available. Here’s some of our favourite trailblazers who are leading the way with designer eco-friendly knickers:

Green Knickers

Green Knickers \"Eat Organic\" panties
When we featured Green Knickers over a year ago, their adorable handmade panties weren’t yet available for purchase. Now they are, and we think it’s definitely been worth the wait. If you always fancied one adorable pair of knickers over a whole set, dive right in to Green Knickers colourful selection of fair-trade, sustainably produced organic undies. We love the flirty, fun designs and cheeky messages like “Eat Organic” (pictured above) A typical pair costs about £25.

Ayten Gasson

Another eco-friendly trailblazer is british designer Ayten Gasson, the designer behind hemp lingerie retailer Enamore that we love so dearly. Her line is now at Glamorous Amorous, who are stocking some beautiful new pieces like this “Truffle” kimono top (pictured above). The knicker and kimono set also include an eyemask, all made of 100% silk chiffon. It’s £110 for the set, which isn’t too outrageous for all you’re getting. Sizes come in Small/Medium and Medium/Large. There’s a good range of adorable sets at GlamAm, and if you’re into the vintage/romantic look, it’s well worth a look.

Eco-Boudoir

Eco Boudoir
We saw a new eco-conscious brand in Paris this year, luxury label Eco Boudior, promoting “luxury with a conscience.” Eco Boudoir not only produces lingerie/loungewear, but have gone for the whole lifestyle with home accessories such as pillows. They still use products like leather and fur in some products, but have made socially responsible choices like vegetable-dyed leather (as opposed to chromium) and only reclaimed fur. It’s an interesting real-world application of sustainable and eco-friendly practices, and we look forward to seeing how the label’s first collection goes. We’ll be updating with stockists as soon as they come in. In the meantime, you can take a sneak-peek on their (Flash) website.
