a la Mod Body: European lingerie for American women

We know Knickers is sometimes frustrating for our U.S. readers — we’re over here nibbling on cucumber sandwiches, happily ordering fabulous European designers like Sarah Fisk, Elise Aucouturier and Fleur T, while you’re struggling through currency conversions and expensive shipping just to be able to buy. That’s why we’re delighted to see a new (to us) US-based retailer that’s bringing these labels to American shores. Based in Boston Baltimore, a la Mod Body imports some of Europe’s finest lingerie and loungewear brands, specifically catering to women who are looking for a relaxed, romantic style.

We’re quite impressed with a la Mod’s selection — they’ve sourced some great independent designers from Italy, France and the U.K., and have kept a strong consistent style through all the collections. If you like bralettes, shorties, and camis in bright colours and modern cuts, they’ve got it for you. Our favourite pick is this playful cotton chemise from Elise Aucouturier – at $275 it’s one of the most expensive pieces, but has a great young, flirty style. We also love this simple ribbed cotton chemise from Araks, which looks like a Hollywood starlet should be donning it for a casual morning scene.

British designer Sarah Fisk is also well-represented at a la Mod, our favourite being this fun “Folk” set. The bra ($100) is only available in sizes 34 B and C, but we think those shorties ($60) are worth it all on their own.

Since almost all of the lingerie is imported from Europe, prices range from about $70-$150 for a bra set. There are some fantastic brands represented though, so why not check the list to see if your favourite is finally available in dollars?
